David Kickert grew up in the Vienna Capitals' junior team and celebrated the championship title with the Vienna team in the 2016/17 season. In 2017, the native of Korneuburg left the Capitals for the first time for a season in Villach. This was followed by three years with the Black Wings Linz and a short trip to the DEL to the Augsburg Panthers, before he returned to the Vienna Capitals, who were eliminated in the semifinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League against the Red Bulls, last season.

David Kickert: "When the opportunity arose to go to Salzburg, I was very happy. I already know a lot of the players on the Red Bulls team and I've also worked a lot with goalie coach Markus Kerschbaumer. These are all guys I would like to work with. In terms of organization, there's nothing better and I'm convinced that the move to Salzburg is the best thing for my development."

Salzburg Head Coach Matt McIlvane: "David Kickert completes our goaltending duo. Together with Atte Tolvanen this is a very strong goalie team for next season. We are very excited to get David, a top Austrian goalie who brings experience from the national team, among other things, and he also played strongly against us in the league playoffs. We are looking forward to having him on our team."
