Both teams searched their luck in the offense, but the goalies Tyler Rimmer and Misa Pietilä allowed no goals in period 1. The break-through came in minute 26: Tuomas Kinnuen netted the 1:0 in a Power Play. Defenseman Andreas Martinsen doubled the lead just 261 seconds later – 2:0. The guests from Gherdeina stayed unimpressed and continued putting pressure on their opponent, but goalie Rimmer stopped all (53) shots. Ten seconds prior the end, Adam Havlik even added the 3:0 into the empty net. Kitzbühel beat Gherdeina 3:0 and earned the top-position in the Alps Hockey League as well.
