The KAC got off to the better start and the Red Jackets took the lead after less than two minutes: After Jensen Aabo intercepted the puck at the left halfwall, Luka Gomboc scored with a one timer. Klagenfurt, who were superior for long stretches, went into the first break with this narrow lead. The picture remained the same after the restart: Linz made an effort, but the visitors were in control. In the 38th minute, KAC captain Thomas Hundertpfund made it 2:0 from an acute angle after Gomboc's assist. In the third period, Pastujov first hit the bar, Mathias From made the final decision in the 49th minute with the third Red Jackets goal. The Danish goal-scorer added an emtpy netter - his fifth goal in the third game - and Jan Mursak founded off the scoring while short-handed. While Linz conceded their second 5:0 defeat of the still young season, the Carinthians moved up to second place with the away win.
