The HC Pustertal Wölfe conceded three defeats in a row, losing against Asiago as well as against Pustertal only after overtime. The Moser Medical Graz99ers are in better shape, with three wins from the past five games. The duel between the ninth (G99) and the eleventh (PUS) in the table is also about important points in the fight for the pre-playoff places. The Styrians are currently five points ahead of the South Tyroleans. Both teams have played 24 games. In tenth place is currently Olimpija, one point behind the 99ers and four points ahead of the "Wolves". In the win2day ICE Hockey League, both teams have faced each other five times so far. Pustertal is slightly ahead with three wins. The team from Bruneck also prevailed at home in the first duel of the season (3:0). It was one of three shutout successes this season for Pustertal. Away from home, however, the Black and Yellows are finding it enormously difficult this season, with just six points out of a possible 33. Second in the table HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie have a great opportunity on Friday to become the first team to break the 100-goal mark. To do so, they need four goals against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, who are twelfth in the table. In the fourth game of the day, the tenth in the table HK SZ Olimpija and the sixth in the table Steinbach Black Wings Linz face each other. Both teams are separated by eight points. In sixth place, the Black Wings currently hold the last direct playoff spot. However, only one point behind them is the EC-KAC. Olimpija, in turn, claims the last pre-playoff spot. The lead over the eleventh place and Pustertal is four points. Thus, Friday's game is enormously important for both teams. Linz, that fought for a long time for the top of the table, could win two of the past five games. Last weekend they lost clearly at home to Graz with 2:5, while Olimpija conceded a 1:3 defeat in Klagenfurt last Sunday. However, two days earlier they were victorious against Pustertal with 5:2. It was their second win in a row at that point. Both teams faced each other for the first time this season just about two weeks ago. In the LINZ AG Eisarena, the home side almost gave away a 2:0 lead after the first period. In the end, the Black Wings prevailed narrowly 3:2/SO. It was their third win in the fifth ICE duel with the Slovenians.
