Klagenfurt close to reach finals
EC-KAC makes it 3:0 in the "best-of-7" semifinal series against EC Red Bull Salzburg. With a commanding 6:0 home win, Klagenfurt clinched its third semifinal or sixth playoff victory in a row - and can already reach the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League final series on Saturday. The win also set the goal difference of the highest-ever “Rotjacken” victory over the "Bullen" since they joined the league (7:1 on October 12th, 2004). Klagenfurt was in control for the full distance, but also benefited from an early goal: Thomas Hundertpfund (4.) converted a rebound, like Samuel Witting (19.) then increased the lead to 2:0 with his third playoff goal just before the first intermission. The KAC was very aggressive in the second period too: Three minutes before the break again, Hundertpfund made his second goal – scoring on powerplay. At the beginning of the final period, Nick Petersen quickly made everything clear for the "Rotjacken": After 96 seconds, he sent the puck via backhand - after a previous turnover by the guests - under the crossbar, making it 4:0. Manuel Ganahl (46.) soon followed suit, Petersen (57.) then also laced up the brace.

Efficient Bolzano makes it 2:1 thanks to special teams

HCB Südtirol Alperia took the lead again in the "best-of-7" semifinal series against the spusu Vienna Capitals. With a 6:3 home win, the "Foxes" put the "best-of-7" semifinal series at 2:1. The guests from Vienna - without Niki Hartl and Jerome Leduc - had the game under control, were aggressive in the first twelve minutes in the forecheck and did not allow any chances. But then Bolzano struck in the first power play: The puck came to Anthony Bardaro (13.) who had no defender around and gave Starkbaum no chance. The deserved equalizer by Marco Richter (13.) followed immediately - but this was also answered promptly, Brett Findlay (14.) deflected unstoppable. And the power play of the "Foxes" should click again in the first period: Bardaro brought the puck sharply in front of the net, Mike Halmo (20.) dusted off. Vienna did not let itself get down, continued to make the game and shortened after the restart by Ty Loney (22.). But Bolzano again took a two-goal lead into the final period, as Daniel Frank (35.) made it 4:2 shorthanded. After a game misconduct penalty, Bolzano makes it 5:3 on powerplay thanks to Angelo Miceli. Vienna, however, still did not give up and narrowed the gap again by Ali Wukovits (46.). In the end, Bolzano matched Vienna’s pressure and Luca Frigo rounded off the score with an empty netter.
