The 99ers' search for a successor to Christian Engstrand resulted in the appointment of Lars Volden. The 31-year-old can look back on a lot of experience, having played in the Liiga, the SHL or in the Czech Republic, among others. Already in the 2010/2011 season Volden moved to the U20 of the Espoo Blues in Finland. This was followed by his first appearances in the SM-Liiga, where he even achieved a save percentage of 92.7% in nine games during the 2012/2013 season. In 2013/2014 Volden also played for Norway at the Olympics and then moved to Sweden to Rögle. In the last two years, the new acquisition from Graz was the goalkeeper for Karlskoga in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

Statement Lars Volden: "I heard a lot of good things about the Graz99ers and had a good conversation with goalie coach Henning Sohlberg and Johan Pennerborn. It all felt right from the start, so it was an easy decision. I want the team to win, play a good regular season and make the playoffs. My job will be to help the team win those games. And I want the team to be able to rely on me."
