Leader Asiago plays at first pursuer Pustertal

On Thursday the second in the Alps Hockey League faces the leader. The HC Pustertal Wölfe (33 points) plays against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey (34 points). Not part of the team of Pustertal will be the new signing Peter MacArthur. The 34-year-old American last played for the Adirondack Thunder in the ECHL. Before that he also played in the DEL and in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. The matchday, which includes eight games, will open at 13:30 with the rearranged match of the Vienna Capitals Silver against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. In addition, the game S.G. Cortina Hafro Hockey against EHC Lustenau is the second duel between two teams of the Top-6.

The rearranged match between the Vienna Capitals Silver and HC Gherdeina valgardena.it takes already place at 13:30. Originally, this game was scheduled for Saturday, 16.11. Due to the weather conditions, however, it was Val Gardena not possible to travel to Vienna. Already on Tuesday, the Capitals Silver were in action this week. At the EC ,Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel they lost with 1:0. It was the second defeat in a row for the Viennese. In the league table, they occupy the 16th place. Val Gardena, on the other hand suffered the first defeat after six straight wins last week. They lost 4:5 to the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. In the table GHE is in seventh place with 26 points.

The match day continues at 19:00 with the game HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The Slovenians won only two of the past five games in the Alps Hockey League. The Broncos, meanwhile, have been without a win for three games and have won only one of the past seven games. In the meantime Wipptal was even the leader. Due to the current form fluctuation they are only in tenth place. Jesenice follows in eleventh place.

The bottom of the league, the Steel Wings Linz, are facing the fourth placed Rittner Buam. The league rookie from Linz is without a win for nine games. With only 16 goals, Linz has the league's most ineffective offensive. Ritten has already scored 66 goals for comparison. Thus, the South Tyroleans have the best offense. With a success rate of 41%, they also have the best powerplay in the league. In the last two games RIT celebrated two victories. At away games, however, the South Tyrol have been without a victory for two games.

In the duel of the Red Bull Hockey Juniors against the EC Bregenzerwald two teams meet each other, who could not win recently. The Young Bulls have lost to the Rittner Buam with 1:4, Bregenzerwald lost at home against Jesenice with 3:5. With eleven points ECB is on 17th place in the league table. They achieved all points in front of their home crowd. Salzburg, however, took most of the points on the road. With 16 points they occupy the 15th place. Only seven of the 16 points they celebrated at home. So far, both teams have met four times in the AHL. RBJ could win all duels.

The defending champion, HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, will play at the EC ,Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel on Thursday. For Kitzbühel it will be already the second game this week. On Tuesday they celebrated a 1:0 home win against the Vienna Capitals Silver. The Tyroleans are on 14th place in the table. From the past eight games they could win only two. The guests from Ljubljana suffered their first defeat after eight straight wins last week. Against S.G. Cortina Hafro HKO lost 2:3 after shootout. In the table the champion of the past season is in third place. The gap to leader Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, however, is only two points. One of Ljubljana's strengths this season is the Penalty Killing, where they are second with 86.3%.

Both the EC-KAC II and the SHC Fassa Falcons have recently suffered defeats. While the guests have lost the last two games, the KA2 is without a win for four games. In the table, both teams separate only one point. Fassa is in twelfth place with 18 points. Klagenfurt takes the 14th place. In the H2H Fassa leads 4:2. The last duel, however, the KA2 won. From all six duels only once the home team could win.

The crunch meeting of the day will be between the HC Pustertal Wölfe and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The guests are at the top of the table with 34 points, just one point behind Pustertal follows in second place, with one game less. Both teams last celebrated victories. While PUS won the last two games, ASH is without a defeat for eight games straight. With only 24 goals against Pustertal represents the best defense of the league. Asiago has conceded 43 goals. Last season, both teams met twice. Pustertal won both games.

With Peter MacArthur the HC Pustertal Wölfe announced the commitment of a new player. The 34-year-old center last played for the Adirondack Thunder in the ECHL. Between 2012 and 2014, the American was active in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) for the Augsburger Panther. MacArthur also played in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. In the season 2014-15 for the EV spusu Vienna Capitals (10G / 16A), 2015-16 for the Moser Medical Graz99ers (2G / 5A).

The game S.G. Cortina Hafro Hockey against EHC Lustenau is the second duel between two teams of the Top-6 on Thursday. Cortina is in fifth place with 30 points, Lustenau follows with three points less on sixth place. Both teams celebrated victories last week. SGC defeated among others AHL defending champion HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana. Lustenau was victorious at home against KA2 and HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. While both teams are not at top in powerplay, the penalty killing of both teams is extremely successful. Cortina is at the top with 87.5%. Lustenau is in fourth place with 84%. The home team from Cortina conceded so far only 29 goals and thus has the third best defense of the league. Goalkeeper Marco De Filippo has a big share in that. The 29-year-old has a save percentage of 94.5%, which means the first place in goaltending statistics.
