win2day ICE Hockey League leaders HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie turned a two-goal deficit into a clear 5-2 home win against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. With HCB Südtirol Alperia (6-1 in Asiago) and EC Red Bull Salzburg (4-0 against Linz) also the second and third scored clear victories, which allowed the top trio to move further away in the table. EC-KAC and Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated home wins after overtime and both despite trailing twice. The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg turned around their home game in the final frame and celebrated their first win after four losses in a row.
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie has extended its winning streak, as the leader defeated EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV at home with 5-2 and got its fifth win in a row. As a result, the Tyrolean team is already 18 points ahead in the standings over Villach, which remains in fourth place and suffered its third defeat in a row. The "Adler" were ahead 2-0 after the first period with goals from Philipp Lindner (2.) and Chris Collins (20.), who scored almost at the buzzer, before Anders Krogsgaard (33.) cut it short with a blueliner in the middle period. In the final period, the "Sharks" then finally bit: Top scorer Brady Shaw (45.) managed to equalize, Daniel Leavens (57.) scored for the lead before two empty-netters increased the result.
Bolzano and Salzburg extend winning-streaks too
Innsbruck's chasers HCB Südtirol Alperia and EC Red Bull Salzburg also tacked on another success to their winning streaks and stayed hot on the heels of the leaders, whoich remain five points clear of the South Tyroleans and ten clear of Salzburg. The "Foxes" also picked up their fifth win in a row with a clear 6-1 win at Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. With three goals in the last ten minutes, the two-time ICE champions fully confirmed their role as favorites and won the "great classic" for the third time in a row.
The "Red Bulls", where Maximilian Wurzer made his debut, meanwhile celebrated their fourth win in a row, leaving the Steinbach Black Wings Linz with newcomer Matthew Murphy no chance. After a scoreless first period, the reigning champions took the lead in the second period with goals from Benjamin Nissner (24.), Lucas Thaler (36.) and Nicolai Meyer (36.). Goalie Atte Tolvanen was once again unstoppable with 18 saves and recorded his third shutout in his last four starts. The Upper Austrians remained without a goal for the third time in the current championship.
Klagenfurt and Graz win in OT with five seconds left
The EC-KAC and the Moser Medical Graz99ers both picked up overtime wins at home and scored the decisive game-winner with less than five seconds on the clock. The "Rotjacken" had to come back from a deficit twice on the way to a 4-3 win over HK SZ Olimpija and let themselves take an advantage three minutes before the end. Five seconds before the end of the extra session Lucas Lessio, before that he gave the primary assist to 2-2, got the breakaway and gave HKO keeper Anthony Morrone no chance.
The course of the game in Graz was similar, as the 99ers twice, both times luckily, made up for a deficit against the spusu Vienna Capitals. In the overtime, Zintis Zusevics skated alone towards Steen in the last possession and scored the extra point four seconds before the end.
Pioneers turn it around too
The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg also pulled off a comeback win on Tuesday, as the Vorarlberg team was trailing in the late-game duel with HC Pustertal Wölfe until the 48th minute after a goal by Ivan Deluca (22.). Then Patrick Spannring netted the one-timer on the power play to equalize - and just five minutes later Andreas Heier (53.) scored for the first win after four defeats in a row recently.
