Leading duo with commanding victories I Klagenfurt wins derby

On Monday the leading duo EC Red Bull Salzburg and spusu Vienna Capitals got commanding victories. While the Liwest Black Wings Linz ended their 4-game losing streak, the Dornbirn Bulldogs got two wins in a row for the first time this season. In addition, EC-KAC decided the 328th Carinthian derby in overtime to their favour.

Capitals keep rolling
The spusu Vienna Capitals earned another big win on Monday. In their road game at Znojmo the Viennese set the course for winning with a strong first period. Alex Wall opened the scoring in the third with a pp goal and Kyle Baun doubled the lead soon later. Riley Holzapfel added a third for a 3:0 score after the first. In the upcoming two periods Baun scored two more goals for his hat trick and a 5:0 road win. In the three games after Christmas the team of head coach Dave Cameron got the maximum points with scoring 19:1 goals.


Salzburg starts into the new year as leader

EC Red Bull Salzburg defended the lead at the top with a 5:1 home win against Innsbruck. Despite Mario Huber opened the scoring early, the game was tied at one after the first because of Ludin's equalizer. In the middle frame Salzburg scored three within five minutes for the preliminary decision. In the third Janos Hari finished off the scoring with Salzburg's third pp goal of the night.


Klagenfurt wins derby in overtime
In the fight for a top 5 spot Klagenfurt earned a big win against local rivals Villach. After a goalless first period, Dave Fischer made the breakthrough in the middle frame. It took Villach 44 minutes to get on the scoreboard when Alexander Lahoda tied it from close range. In further consequence the hosts had the better chances but it went into overtime. After Fraser missed a golden chance for Villach, Thomas Koch took the bonus point for the visitors.

Linz ends losing streak in Hungary
The game Fehervar against Linz started fast-paced and the hosts used their first powerplay, Timmins put the puck in the net. However, Linz answered fast, Schofield was open in front of the net and then Fejes put a rebound in the net. Linz started better in the second period, Mihaly was penalized and the guests were effective again: Florek scored from close. The home team had the momentum in the last period as Aron Reisz pulled one back. A late Sarauer goal forced overtime, where Linz took the win. Soon after coming back from the penalty box, Hutner Fejes became the hero with his second of the night.

Dornbirn gets second successive win
Kevin Macierzynski scored the lone first-period goal for Dornbirn in their encounter against Bolzano. In the second a Rapuzzi brace got the hosts a 3:0 lead but HCB struck back with scoring three unanswered goals for a 3:3 score after two periods. Rapuzzi retook the lead with his hat trick and Häußle made it a two-goal game on pp - it was the 1000th goal this Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season. Bolzano's Alberga halved the deficit but it was enough for the foxes this night.
