In several task forces, representatives of the win2day ICE Hockey League and the Austrian Hockey federation worked out the key points of the new agreement during the last weeks, to continue the successful cooperation in the interest of domestic ice hockey.

A new roster regulation was agreed between the league and the federation, whereby from the 22-23 season onwards, each of the eight Austrian clubs must have twelve players on the game report who are eligible to play for the Austrian national team, at least two available for U24 age group too. This rule also applies to the other participating league nations.

To realize the goal of remaining in World Championship’s top division 2023, the federation was assured a preparation period of 14 days before the first game at the worlds.

"We hat very constructive talks with the federation, in which both sides made concessions. It is pleasing that we were able to agree on a long-term solution. With this, we are building the foundation for further success in Austrian hockey. With 21 players from the win2day ICE Hockey League, we have also made our contribution to the success at the World Championship and once again proven the high sporting level in our league," says league president Kommerzialrat Mag. Jochen Pildner-Steinburg.

ÖEHV President Dr. Klaus Hartmann adds: "I have always been convinced that we can only further develop the overall product "Austrian ice hockey" in coordination between the federation and the league. It was important that the new contract focus on domestic player, coach and referee talents. This has definitely been achieved through the introduction of the new rooster regulation, the AKES (compensation system for the development of domestic players), the minimum quota of Austrian clubs and also the qualification requirement of licensed head coaches at the clubs."
