The highlight of the matchday is the game between the Moser Medical Graz99ers and the spusu Vienna Capitals, which starts at 17:30 and can also be seen live on PULS 24. The 99ers won 4:2 in Klagenfurt on Friday and are still the only unbeaten team. With 15 out of a possible 15 points and a goal differential of +9, the Styrians are smiling from the top of the table and are already nine points ahead of the Capitals, who are in ninth place with six points. On Friday, the capitals lost to Fehérvár 1:4. Graz and Vienna already met in the season opener on September 20. On that meeting, the 99ers narrowly won 2:1 away from home. Lukas Haudum scored the decisive goal eight and a half minutes before the end. Tyler Parks was still in goal for the Capitals at the start of the season, but the American will be out for the next few weeks due to an upper-body injury. For this reason, the Viennese signed the Swede Anders Lindbäck until the international break in November. The 36-year-old has played 135 NHL games in the course of his career and has been active in the best leagues in Europe.

For the first time since their semi-final exit in March, HC Pustertal will face the EC-KAC. The team from Klagenfurt clearly won the semi-final series 4:0. Nevertheless, it has been the South Tyroleans' best season in the win2day ICE Hockey League so far. In the current season, however, the “Wolves” are struggling. After six games, they only have three points and are in twelfth place. On Friday, Pustertal lost 2:4 at home to Linz, their third defeat in a row. The KAC have been in action seven times and are in fourth place with twelve points. The 2:4 home defeat against Graz was the second loss of the season for last year's finalists after regulation.

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV is the second Carinthian team in action on Sunday. The team at the bottom of the table, which is still winless, will host the HC TIWAG Innsbruck. The Tyroleans are in seventh place with eight points. Villach are still waiting for their first point, but have “only” been in action four times, three of them away from home. The HCI have played four of their five games so far this season at home. The “Sharks” last won away from home on January 26.

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and HCB Südtirol Alperia will also meet on Sunday. While the Hungarians celebrated a 4:1 away win in Vienna on Friday, Bolzano was clearly beaten at home by Asiago 8:2. It was the South Tyroleans' first defeat of the season. They had previously started the season with four wins and never conceded more than two goals per game. The win in Vienna was Fehérvár's third of the season. With nine points from five games, the Hungarians are in sixth place. In the head2head, Bolzano were victorious in three out of four encounters last season.
