Olimpija Ljubljana reclaimed first place with a 6-3 victory over Pustertal. The Slovenians have already scored 100 goals, making them the most potent offense in Europe and the first team since the league’s premiere season 2000/01 to reach 100 goals after just 22 games. The lead over third-placed Graz is only two points, giving the Styrians a chance to overtake Ljubljana on Friday with a regulation-time win – provided Pustertal also loses to Vienna. Graz won 5-2 in Salzburg on Wednesday, one of seven victories in their last ten games. In the first matchup of the season, Graz lost 3-4 in overtime to Ljubljana.

Second Hungarian Derby
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 won the first Hungarian derby against league newcomers FTC-Telekom 5-1. On Friday, the two teams meet in Budapest for the first time this season. The home side enters as slight favorites: eighth-placed FTC has won their last three games, while tenth-placed Fehérvár – three points behind FTC – lost their last two matches, most recently 1-3 in Vienna.

Villach hosts Linz
For the second time this season, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV face Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The first meeting on September 26 in Linz ended in a dominant 8-3 away win for Villach. Since then, the Upper Austrians have stabilized, winning seven of their last ten games. Linz sit ninth in the standings, seven points behind sixth-placed Villach. Both teams lost on Wednesday: VSV 4-5 to the Pioneers, Linz 3-6 at home to Bolzano.

KAC look to return to winning ways against Pioneers
Fourth-placed EC-KAC have failed to win their last two games, most recently losing 6-9 in Innsbruck. Bottom-placed Pioneers Vorarlberg ended a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 home win over Villach. In the first encounter with KAC this season, the Pioneers pulled off a 2-1 shootout victory – their first win over Klagenfurt after five consecutive losses. A victory in Klagenfurt would be a surprise, as the league’s weakest away team has only won one of ten road games so far.

Vienna aims to overcome away woes at second-placed Pustertal
The Vienna Capitals have won just two of their ten away games, and none in the last three. On Friday, the eleventh-placed Capitals visit second-placed HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. In the first meeting, Vienna narrowly lost 4-5 in overtime at home. On Wednesday, the Capitals beat Fehérvár 3-1 at home, while Pustertal lost 3-6 in Ljubljana, surrendering the top spot to the Slovenians. Pustertal have lost three of their last five matches, while Vienna won two of their last five, both at home.

Bolzano hosts Innsbruck in the Tyrol derby
The sixth game of Round 24 features the Tyrol derby between HCB Südtirol Alperia and HC TIWAG Innsbruck. In the first matchup, Bolzano won 4-1 away, their sixth consecutive derby victory. Bolzano are fifth in the standings, Innsbruck twelfth. However, the Tyroleans arrive with confidence after a 9-6 win over EC-KAC on Wednesday, their first victory after four straight defeats. Bolzano are also not in top form, with two wins in their last five games, though they beat Linz 6-3 on Wednesday.
