League statement after injury to HCI forward Steven Owre

The win2day ICE Hockey League has taken note of HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie’s public communication concerning the injury sustained by Steven Owre during the league game against HCB Südtirol Alperia.

First and foremost, the League expresses its sincere concern for Steven Owre and wishes him a full and swift recovery. Player safety is a core priority of the ICE Hockey League, and injuries of any kind are taken seriously.

Following standard procedure, the game incident referenced by HC Innsbruck has been reviewed by the League’s Department of Player Safety (DOPS), the Officiating Department, and the Player Safety Committee (PSC).

As with all cases and in accordance with league protocol, the incident referenced by HC Innsbruck was sent and reviewed by the ICEHL’s independent Player Safety Committee. After examining all available video angles and relevant game information, the Committee determined that the play did not meet the threshold for supplementary discipline under current ICEHL rules and standards.

The League also confirms that the on-ice judgment call made by the game officials was correct, and that the officials followed proper league protocol in assessing the penalty associated with the play and not having the possibility to go to Video Review. As a result, the on-ice decision stands, and no additional disciplinary action will be taken.
