The Steinbach Black Wings Linz celebrated their first postseason success in 2024 on Tuesday, as the Upper Austrians won 3-2 in front of a sold-out arena against EC Red Bull Salzburg, which had clearly won the first quarterfinal duel 4-0. The "Black Wings" took the lead after just 74 seconds thanks to Nico Feldner (2.), who converted a rebound. The score remained unchanged until 61 seconds left in the second: Linz then doubled the lead, scoring through Logan Roe (39./SH1) while short-handed. However, the defending champions managed to equalize in the remaining time of the second period, as first Thomas Raffl (40./PP1) netted his second playoff goal in 2024 – and just seven seconds later Lucas Thaler (40.) made it 2-2. Linz remained focused, scored in the power play at the start of the third period (Lebler; 45.) and thus clinched the triumph.

The EC-KAC also celebrated its first playoff win in 2024, as the regular-season winners beat the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg 1-0 in a physical and tactical game. The lone goal of the game was scored by 21-year-old Finn van Ee after a no-look pass from Lukas Haudum in the 12th minute. Sebastian Dahm recorded his fourth shutout of the season with 19 saves. The series was thus evened up, with both teams celebrating a shutout each.

Bolzano makes it 2-0
After Hydro Fehérvár AV19 on Monday, HCB Südtirol Alperia also confirmed its victory from the first quarterfinal duel with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV on Tuesday – and made it 2-0 in the quarterfinal series. Bolzano, for whom Dylan Di Perna played his 200th game, took advantage of his first chance to take the lead after 74 seconds. Brad McClure (2.) scored after a rebound. And the "Foxes" remained efficient, capitalizing on both power plays – Gazley (31./PP1) and Teves (54./PP1) – to score and had Sam Harvey (34 saves) to back them up. Villach were much more stable than in the first meeting, twice shorting a gap in a two-goal deficit, but ultimately failed to find the necessary power to turn the game around.
