The Bears returned to the Den after two heavy defeats in Linz and wanted to get the series back in their favor. The Black Wings were first to strike, twice within a minute in 4-on-4 situations: D'Aversa found himself on the board after the Bears couldn't clear the puck in the 8th minute, DaSilva doubled shortly after. Before the end of the period Brian Lebler converted a powerplay in the dying seconds.

After a delay of roughly an hour due to broken ice by the players' benches Medvescak get on the board after a scramble in front, Koskiranta put the puck just behind the line in the 38th minute. 38 seconds before the second break Harri Tikkanen scored to bring the score to a goal difference.

Medvescak were clearly the more active team throughout the third period and it paid off 1:07 before the end when Drew Schiestel deflected shot from Sondre Olden in the upper left shelf and brought the score to a tie, which ultimately led the game to overtime.

Game over in the 66th minute as Lehtonen gave away the puck on the blue line to Fabio Hofer who with a swift wrister found the back of the net and gave the Black Wings the lead in the series.
