The Steinbach Black Wings Linz celebrated a crucial win in the direct Top-10 clash with FTC-Telekom. The Upper Austrians came out flying, creating plenty of scoring chances early on and jumping out to a 2:0 lead within the opening six minutes thanks to goals by Shawn St-Amant and Luka Maver. Linz added another goal later in the first period to make it 3:0 before the visitors from Budapest got on the scoreboard. Andreas Kristler restored the three-goal cushion in the second period, effectively sealing the outcome. Linz eventually skated away with a 5:1 win and now hold a five-point cushion over 11th-placed Villach, who have two games in hand. FTC-Telekom remain three points ahead of EC VSV.

HCB Südtirol Alperia bounced back from three consecutive defeats against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 but needed a strong effort in the final period to do so. The visitors from Bolzano got off to the better start, opening the scoring through Daniel Mantenuto in the first period. Fehérvár responded in the second frame and turned the game around with two goals inside 30 seconds. First, István Terbócs finished off a breakaway, before János Hári capped a rush to make it 2:1. Bolzano, however, responded impressively in the third period. Brad McClure netted the quick equalizer before Shane Gersich appeared to score the game-winning goal with three and a half minutes remaining. Fehérvár pushed back and equalized again just one minute later, but Gersich struck once more less than a minute from the final buzzer to secure all three points for Bolzano. With the win, the South Tyroleans moved level with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the standings.
