The Steinbach Black Wings Linz complete the quarterfinals in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Upper Austrians beat the Moser Medical Graz99ers 3:0 at home on Sunday in the decisive third game of the pre-playoffs. The Linz side thus qualified for the playoffs again after a two-year break.

In the third and decisive game of the pre-playoffs, the Graz team had to do without Andrew Yogan, but Tobias Fladeby and Patrik Kittinger returned to the lineup. Christian Engstrand started in goal this time. An early powerplay for the guests did not bring anything and also in the further consequence both teams put their focus on the defense. The score was 0:0 going into the first intermission, but the first goal came just five minutes after the restart: After a Gaffal assist, Brian Lebler shot - that was slightly deflected found its way into the net.



After the visitors failed to capitalize on another powerplay, the home side struck in their first man advantage: Shawn St-Amant (31st) completed a solo effort to make it 2:0. Engstrand prevented another goal against before the second period break. At the beginning of the final period, the Styrians had their best phase, but they did not manage to pull one back. First Zintis Zusevics failed, then Linz goalie Rasmus Tirronen kept the upper hand against Michael Schiechl. Lebler was again responsible for the final decision, deflecting a Roe shot for the final result.
