In tonight’s lone game of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga the EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz cheered a 5:1 home-win over EC Panaceo VSV to climb to fourth place in standings, with the same amount of points as Klagenfurt and Vienna (30 points each). Justin Florek (3A) and Mark McNeill (1G | 2A) each collected three points. Three goals of the Upper Austrians were scored on powerplay occasions.

With the 5:1 home-win against the EC Panaceo VSV the EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz grabbed its fifth season-win in front of the home crowd and gained points in the eight consecutive home-game too. Linz had the better of the play right from the beginning and got rewarded in the 11th minute as former Villach player Valentin Leiler got the home team on the scoreboard. Further, David Kickert stopped Anton Karlsson on one-on-one and secured Linz a tight but deserved lead after the first. About halfway through the second Marek Kalus doubled up on powerplay, converting his own rebound. Soon later the main clock in the arena was defective and the game interrupted and the second break hooked up. After that the missed 5,5 minutes of the second were played followed by the full final frame, without a break anymore. Linz continued and made the game safe after Dragan Umicevic (35.) scored of a sharp angle. Further two powerplay-goals made it more clear for the hosts, who had to take the consolidation goal of Kevin Schmidt 27 seconds left in the game.
