The Steinbach Black Wings Linz secured an important home win against the EC-KAC in the sixth semi-final of the win2day ICE Hockey League, forcing a deciding game. Shawn St-Amant scored the game-winning goal in the 57th minute of the 2:0 win. Luka Maver sealed the victory with an empty-net goal shortly before the end. The Black Wings will now play their second game seven of the current playoffs on Tuesday.

The sixth semi-final duel between Linz and Klagenfurt was characterized by strong defensive lines. There were hardly any top-class scoring chances over the entire 60 minutes, and for the first time in the current playoffs, no goals were scored in the first 40 minutes.

In the end, one team was still able to celebrate before overtime: Shawn St-Amant scored the 1:0 for Steinbach Black Wings Linz in the 57th minute. KAC goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm only got a total of 17 shots on goal, but he had no chance against the Canadian's precise finish. Shortly after the goal against, Dahm left the ice for an extra player, but the KAC failed to score. Instead, Rasmus Tirronen secured Linz's victory with a flawless performance. The Finn saved all 23 shots on goal and celebrated his third shutout of the season. Luka Maver provided the final decision with an empty-net goal 19 seconds before the end.

The Black Wings will now play their second game seven in the current playoffs on Tuesday. They won the deciding game against Graz in overtime. The KAC played their last game seven in last season's final, which they clearly lost 2:6 against Salzburg.
