Linz were without Söllinger, Scheid, Pusnik, Feldner and Stuart in their fourth pre-season game. After a goalless first period, the home side took the lead in the 32nd minute: in a 2-on-1 situation, Shawn St-Amant decided to go for the finish and scored perfectly into the far corner. They went into the second period break with this narrow lead. The final period started with a bang. Although the Upper Austrians started short-handed, they were able to celebrate again after just five seconds. St-Amant saw the gap immediately after the face-off and did not miss the chance. Augsburg then pulled one back, when goalie Tirronen was surprised by a shot from outside. In the 55th minute, Brian Lebler restored the two-goal lead with a one timer. However, things got tense once again, with the Germans closing the gap to one goal again with just under two minutes remaining. But Henrik Neubauer added an empty netter in the final second to make it 4:2.
