Linz opened the scoring after five minutes with McNeill deflecting a Roach shot on power play. The Russians, who played physically hard, tied it later in the opening period but Valentin Leiler restored the lead even before the first intermission. After the restart Linz goalie Kickert had some good saves but he was unlucky when Amur tied it with a shorthander. Soon later Thomas Stroj replaced Kickert in the Black Wings net. In the 32nd minute Mario Altmann found the back of the net for a third Linz lead in this game. Early in the third the Austrians doubled it with a power play goal from Rick Schofield. However, the KHL side tied it within five minutes to force overtime. In the extra session Lazarev scored the game-winning goal for Amur. Tomorrow Linz plays HC Ceske Budejovice again, two weeks ago the team of head coach Tom Rowe earned a 4:1 win against the Czech side.
