Early in the game Linz had the better of the play with Umicevic missing the first big chance. Soon later the Upper Austrians were not able to score on power play while Budějovice was more efficient as Novak (11') found the back of the net from the blue line. In the middle frame the Czech side pressed for their second goal but Linz goalie Paul Mocher had some good saves. Linz even killed a 5 on 3 situation but with both teams being at full strength the hosts doubled the lead. As Umicevic missed the open net, Budějovice took a2:0 lead into the second intermission. After the restart the Black Wings tried hard to get on the scoreboard but were not successful. At the other end Novak's deflection made it 3:0 and when Linz pulled their goalie the hosts added an empty net goal for a 4:0 final result. On Sunday Linz faces German side Straubing Tigers in their next preseason game.
