Linz wins second season meeting with Feldkirch too

The Steel Wings Linz won the second duel of the season against BEMER VEU Feldkirch too, as the Upper Austrians won 4:3 in front of their home crowd and celebrated their sixth victory of the season. For the Vorarlberg team it was the third defeat in a row. Linz goalie Leon Sommer stopped 51 of 54 shots, while Niko Lahtinen scored twice.

In a fairly even first period, the Steel Wings Linz let a first overtime game go unused – but then scored the lone goal of the first period: Niko Lahtinen took the lead in the 12th. The home team doubled the lead in the 32nd minute through Marcel Mayrhofer. And the Linz team took the 2-0 advantage into the final period as their goalie Leon Sommer saved all 33 shots on goal in the first 40 minutes. Only 24 seconds after the restart, he was beaten for the first time by Julian Payr before he hold off the next offensive efforts of the guests. Kevin Farren and again Lahtinen scored for the Steel Wings in the crunch time, keeping them one ahead of late goals from VEU forwards Stanley (58.) and Bolterle (60.).
