In the only Wednesday game of the win2day ICE Hockey League, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz secured a convincing road victory against Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The Italian side started strong and proved to be an efficient opponent in the first 30 minutes. However, with this win, the Upper Austrians solidified their spot in the Top-6 and extended their lead over direct competitor EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV to three points.

Despite an early Asiago lead and an efficient start, the Black Wings once again demonstrated their consistency against lower-ranked teams, underlining why they have barely slipped up against squads from the bottom half of the standings this season. Bryce Misley had a standout performance for Asiago, netting a quick-fire brace within 30 minutes and temporarily giving his team a 3-2 lead. However, Linz kept their composure and took full control, eventually cruising to a commanding 7-3 victory. Ken Ograjensek and Graham Knott each recorded a double, leading the offensive charge.

The Black Wings bounced back impressively from a tough overtime loss to VSV the night before, instantly regaining ground in the battle for playoff positioning.

For Asiago, this loss marked their third defeat in four season matchups against Linz. Coming into this clash, the Italians had won two of their last three games and appeared to be in solid form. However, once again, they failed to find an answer against the Black Wings, who stabilized their playoff course after a bitter setback the previous evening.
