The HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana is back on the top of Alps Hockey League, as the reigning champion won the second Slovenian derby of the season against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 7:0. Two goals within 14 seconds at the beginning of the second got the “dragons” on winning ways. Gal Koren and Saso Rajsar each had a brace, which grabbed their third shutout of the season. Further, the EC Bregenzerwald ended its road trip with another win, cheering a 4:1 at bottom-placed Steel Wings Linz.

HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana retook the league in standings after a clear 7:0 derby win at HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. The “dragons” booked its eighth road-win this season, cheering the second win in a row. In Alps Hockey League the reigning champions grabbed the seventh derby win, the second straight. Jesenice had to take its fourth consecutive defeat, remaining 13th in standings. Once more Ljubljana impressed with one man down, clearing all six box plays in that game. Saso Rajsar gave his colors the lead after about thirteen minutes. With two quick goals within 14 seconds, Gal Koren and Ziga Jezovsek decided the game for the guests on an early stage. The “dragons” dominated in the last, netted four more to grab a clear 7:0 shutout-win, celebrating the third victory without a goal against overall.

The EC Bregenzerwald finished its road trip with the second win. After Thursday’s victory in Vienna, the “Wälder” cheered a 4:1 win at bottom-placed Steel Wings Linz. It was Bregenzerwald’s third consecutive win, climbing to 15th place in standings. The Upper Austrians suffered their 17th consecutive defeat, losing the second meeting with the Vorarlberg side too. After five points in Thursday’s game at Vienna, Johan Lorraine opened the scoring for the guests in the 8th minute. With two more goals in the middle frame, the “Wälder” made the game safe on an early stage, as Lukas Göggel (29.) and Christian Haidinger (36.) scored. Haidinger converted guest’s second powerplay occasion. About halfway through the last the hosts pulled one back, thanks to Marcel Mayrhofer (48.). In the final minute Haidinger rounded off the score with an empty netter.
