Ljubljana celebrates overtime victory at Pustertal

The HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana won the rematch of last year´s final at the HC Pustertal Wölfe with 3:2 OT. The HCP was able to equalise a 0:2 deficit in the last two minutes of the game but nevertheless they lost the game after extra time. With the victory, the Slovenians move up to fifth place in the league table. New second in the league table is S.G. Cortina Hafro. They won at HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice with 4:3 SO. The EHC Lustenau celebrated the third victory in a row. Also victorious were the EC-KAC II, the VEU Feldkirch and HC Gherdeina valgardena.it.

Ljubljana wins thriller against Pustertal
In the rematch of last year's final, the HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana won at the HC Pustertal Wölfe with 3:2 OT. In the first period the hosts were slightly dominant but could not score. In the middle period the guests from Slovenia increasingly took command. But they did not succeed too. All goals were scored in the final period. Zan Jezovsek scored twice within six minutes. When the 860 spectators at the Rienz Stadium in Bruneck had already given up all hopes of revenge for the final defeat of the HCP last year, Massimo Carozza scored the first goal for the HCP after 58:05 minutes. Only 55 seconds later John Lewis scored the equalizer. The decision had to be made in extra time. In this it was Anze Ropret who scored the decision in favor of the Slovenians after 03:13 minutes. Despite the defeat, Pustertal continues to be the leader of the AHL with 24 points. Ljubljana is in fifth place with 20 points. Already on Saturday, the defending champion of the Alps Hockey League will have an absolute crunch encounter. Against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice they contest the 500th Večni Derbi of the history.

Cortina wins after shootout
In an exciting match the HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice lost against S.G. Cortina Hafro with 3:4 after shootout. From the beginning there were numerous chances to score on both sides. Nevertheless, in the first period only one goal was scored from the guests. In the second period five goals were scored. The Slovenians won it with 3:2. No further goals were scored in the final period and in the overtime as well, so the decision had to fall in the shootout. In this Nick Bruneteau scored the decision in favor of Cortina. In the league table, the Italians move up to the second place. Jesenice slips to the eleventh place.

Hattrick from Pitschieler at away victory of Val Gardena
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it won with 4:2 thanks to a hattrick by Simon Pitschieler at the Steel Wings Linz. The hosts from Upper Austria had the better start and were already after 13 minutes in the lead with 2:0. In the first period the guests didnt´t score but in the second period and at the beginning of the last period of the game the 21-year-old Pitschieler turned the game single-handedly. The Austrians had no answer ready and lost the fifth game in a row. In the league table the Steel Wings remain bottom of the league with two points. For Gherdeina the victory in Linz was the third in a row. In the league table GHE occupies place seven.

Third victory in a row for Lustenau
The EHC Lustenau celebrated their third successive win at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, continuing the clear upward trend. For the Young Bulls it was already the fifth defeat in series. In the 14th minute RBJ scored the 1:0. The guests from Vorarlberg were able to equalize the game in the 19th minute. At the beginning of the second period, the EHC was able to take the lead for the first time in this match. Although the home side managed to equalize, but with two powerplay goals, the guests were able to retract the victory in the end, which puts the EHC in tenth place in the league table. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors remain in 15th place.

Feldkirch wins against Kitzbühel
The VEU Feldkirch won with 6:3 against the EC, Die Adler 'Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. After 17 minutes of the game, the hosts were already in the lead with 3:0 before Kitzbühel was able to score shortly before the end of the first period. After two periods the Vorarlberger were in the lead with 4:2. At the beginning of the final period the Tyroleans were able to shorten to 3:4 and could hope again for an away win. But only 68 seconds after the goal, the VEU could restore the two goals lead. In minute 54 the final decision was made with the 6:3. For the fourth time in a row in this duel the home team won the game. With 17 points Feldkirch is now in eighth place in the league table, Kitzbühel is in 13th place.

Second defeat in a row for Broncos
For the second time in a row, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan lost a game. For the EC-KAC II it was the first victory over the Broncos in the ninth duel. There was less action until the 50th minute of the game in the Stadthalle Klagenfurt but then the home side scored two goals within 62 seconds. Per Empty Net they increased to 3:0 in minute 58. The guests from Vipiteno scored the 1:3 in minute 59. The WSV loses one place in the league table and is now in third place. The KA2 improves to the twelfth place.
