It was a memorable game five of the finals series in Bruneck. The HC Pustertal only needed 24 more seconds to win the game and the Championship for the first time. HK SZ Olimpija, however was able to win the game in the overtime with 3:2 thanks to Kristjan Cepon and David Planko's goals. This victory allows them to continue dreaming of winning the championship. With a home win on Friday they would force a decisive game 7 in Bruneck on Sunday. The signs of a victory in front of their home crowd are actually good for the home side from Slovenia, if the opponent would not be called Pustertal.

On Friday, the next "do-or-die-game" for HK SZ Olimpija will take place in Ljubljana. The Slovenians have to win to force a decisive seventh game in Bruneck. But just against the South Tyroleans Olimpija lately is not able to win his home games. Both finals, as well as one game in the regular season the Slovenes lost. Overall, they have been waiting since 22nd November 2017 for a home win over the wolves. Especially in the two finals Olimpija failed mostly in itself. In both games Ljubljana bargained away a two-goal-lead.

A game six in the final series of the Alps Hockey League is also no novelty. In the previous season Asiago won the AHL after game seven. Final opponent Ritten was able to equalize in game six at home to 3:3 but in the decisive game seven Asiago was successful with 7:5. This season is similar. Ljubljana has the big chance to force a decisive seventh game in Bruneck tomorrow. The condition for this is that their home performance against Bruneck increases.
