Ljubljana loses last test before CHL start

HK SZ Olimpija conceded a 2:4 home defeat against EC-KAC in the sixth and last test match. Thus, the Slovenians end the preseason with three wins and three losses. From Friday on, the "Dragons" are in action in the Champions Hockey League for the first time. First opponent is Turku (FIN). In the other two games of the day, league newcomers BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg and Migross Supermercati Asiago were in action. While the team from Feldkirch conceded their first defeat in the third game, the Italians were promptly beaten in their first preseason game.

In the ICE internal duel between HK SZ Olimpija and EC-KAC the guests from Klagenfurt kept the upper hand with 4:2. For the KAC it was the second preseason win in the third game. For Ljubljana it was already the sixth and last test game. On Friday, the Slovenians will start their Champions Hockey League adventure in Turku (FIN). The record of the "Dragons" in the preseason: three wins and three defeats. Against KAC, both the first and the second period ended with a 1:1 draw. Klagenfurt took the lead in each case through Paul Postma (6.) and Lukas Haudum (26.). Ljubljana's answer followed in both periods in the last five minutes. First, new signing Chris Dodero (16.) equalized. In the 37th minute, Carl Neill, another new signing, was on the spot. In the final period, only the KAC hit the net. Matt Fraser made it 3:2 in the 42nd minute and Thomas Koch scored an empty-net goal just seconds before the end of the game.

BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg - GCK Lions 1:2 (0:1, 0:0, 1:1)
In the third test match, league newcomer BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg lost for the first time. The team from Feldkirch lost at home against the GCK Lions with 1:2. The guests from Switzerland went into the first period break with a 1:0 lead. After a scoreless second 20 minutes of play, the Lions initially went in front 2:0 in the final period before the Pioneers also scored.

HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 2:0 (1:0, 0:0, 1:0)
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey lost its first test match in this year's pre-season. The league newcomer lost 0:2 to Jesenice in the Alps Hockey League final rematch, so the Slovenians at least managed a small revenge for the 2:3 final defeat against the Italians in April.
