Rok Kapel played three seasons in the Juniors League with Bled and Jesenice before moving to Finland to join Ässät U18 in 2016/17. After two years in Germany, the Slovenian joined the EC-KAC Future Team in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has amassed a whopping 99 scoring points (44 goals, 55 assists) in 86 Alps Hockey League games. In his almost three years in Klagenfurt, the forward also became a senior national team player of his home country, making his debut for Slovenia in the spring of 2021. Kapel made his only appearance in Klagenfurt's first team in October 2021, when he scored their only goal in the Champions Hockey League home match against HC Donbass Donetsk (1-2).

"For me, the transfer to Ljubljana is a great opportunity to take the next step. Olimpija has a strong team and I want to help them. I am motivated and looking forward to this challenge," said the newcomer.
