Lustenau climbs to the top of the table

Tuesday's only Alps Hockey League game was a mere 104 seconds old when Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan scored the opening goal but in the end EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau earned a 3:1 home win. Thanks to two third-period goals the lions climbed to the top of the table.

Despite the hosts taking over command from the first face-off, Sterzing scored the opening goal when Matthias Mantinger used a defensive mistake after 104 seconds. Lustenau pressed hard for an equalizer and outshot their opponents 17:4 in the first but could not find the back of the net. Early in the middle frame Marc-Oliver Vallerand deflected a shot by Philipp Winzig to tie the game. After the first goal against the visitors became stronger but goalie Gianluca Vallini still had lot of work.  In the final period the hosts had the better of the play again and with ten minutes to go David Slivnik lit the lamp for Lustenau's first lead. In further consequence the guests pressed hard for an equalizer but David Franz (58') made the game safe. With a 3:1 home win in front of 800 fans the lions took over at the top of the AHL standings.
