Lustenau completes semifinal in Alps Hockey League

The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau completes the semifinal line-up in Alps Hockey League after a 3:2 road win against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the decisive game of the “best-of-7” quarterfinal series. Chris D’Alvise netted the game winner around halfway through the last. Lustenau faces HK SZ Olimpija in the semifinals, while HC Pustertal Wolves play against HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Both series start on Monday, 1st of April.

With EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau for the first time an Austrian team enters semifinal stage in Alps Hockey League. After winning decisive game seven 3:2 on the road against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, the sixth ranked team after regular season advanced to semifinals and faces HK SZ Olimpija on Monday. Salzburg for the second time lost a quarterfinal series and got its first home defeat after ten consecutive wins. While the hosts wasted three early powerplays, Philipp Koczera opened the scoring for Lustenau in the 8th minute. Salzburg turned the game around: Kilian Zündel’s balanced it four minutes later, while Maximilian Rebernig took the lead for the hosts while being shorthanded. 27 seconds to go in the second Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa tied the game for Lustenau. In the last Salzburg tried hard to get back the lead, but Lustenau’s Chris D’Alvise got his colors on winning ways scoring the game winner around halfway through the last. Guests netminder Mathieu Corbeil kept his sheet clean in the final ten minutes, having 44 saves in total and secured the important win for the Vorarlberg side.
