Lustenau defeats Jesenice in overtime

In Friday's lone Alps Hockey League game, EHC Lustenau celebrated a 2:1 overtime victory over HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. Max Wennlund scored the decisive goal for the Vorarlberg side, who returned to winning ways after two recent defeats and moved up to eighth place in the table.

The game between Lustenau and Jesenice started fast-paced. Both netminders were challenged from the very first minute and were initially able to keep a clean sheet - the first period ended goalless. After the restart Lustenau was the better team and took the lead after 22 minutes with a precise shot from Lucas Haberl. Both sides then had good opportunities, but the goalies Felix Nußbacher and Bor Glavic once again stood out. The visitors took control in the final period and pushed for an equaliser. They managed to tie the game in the 42nd minute when Lovro Kumanovic scored after a perfect pass from Gasper Glavic. Shortly before the end of the game, both teams had chances to decide the game early on power play. But no more goals were scored and the game went into overtime. After 49 seconds, the visitors were awarded a 2-minute penalty. Lustenau did not miss this opportunity and Max Wennlund scored the winner.
