Two of four Alps Hockey League quarterfinal games were decided in overtime. While HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice conquered match pucks in the third longest game in AHL history, EHC Lustenau managed to equalize the series after overtime. In the other matches, S.G. Cortina Hafro and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey added to their tally and - like Jesenice - could fix their semi-final spot as early as Saturday.

EHC Lustenau inflicted the first defeat of this postseason on EK Zell Eisbären. After the two wins against Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the pre-playoffs and the opening win against Lustenau, the Salzburgers had to admit defeat with 3:4 after overtime. After a successful start to the game by the guests from Vorarlberg, the Polar Bears took the lead in the middle period. This changed once again in the final period, before Henrik Neubauer shot Zell into overtime. There Philipp Koczera ensured the decision for EHC Lustenau.

Asiago sovereign to the match pucks
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey put the score at 2-0 in the "best-of-five" quarterfinal series, taking the match puck in the series against Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Like two days ago, however, the Broncos took the lead. Early in the middle period, the home crowd was allowed to cheer for the first time, before Asiago took the lead for the first time this evening with a brace in the same period and started the final period with it. The yellow-reds finally prevailed with 6:2. The Broncos could not fight back and face a 0-2 deficit before the third game in the series.

Jesenice moves to 2-0 after third-longest game in history
HDD SIJ Acronic Jesenice also captured the match puck for Saturday. However, this one had to be hard fought for. In one of the longest games of the Alps Hockey League, the Slovenians prevailed in the 96th minute with 3:2 after overtime. At first Jesenice convinced once again with their defensive performance and let the offense of HC Gherdeina despair until the 52nd minute. However, a double strike brought Gardena-Gröden into the overtime. This went scoreless for 20 minutes in the "five against five". When this was continued in "three-on-three" mode, Erik Svetina provided the decision in the third-longest game of the Alps Hockey League.

Cortina pushes Rittner Buam ahead of season's end
S.G. Cortina Hafro promptly followed up their surprising opening win over the Rittner Buam with match pucks. Cortina celebrated a 4:2 success after the 4:2 win as guests in Ritten. After an early lead by the hosts, the Buam took the lead for the first time at the beginning of the second period. In the same period, however, Cortina struck back twice and shot their way to victory or three match pucks for a semifinal spot.
