Lustenau keeps playoff hopes alive

In Tuesday's only Alps Hockey League game EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau got a hard-fought 4:3 home victory against EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. The first win for the new coaching duo Christian Weber / Mark Nussbaumer also kept their playoff hopes alive.

Both teams were a bit enrvous early in the game with Lustenau creating the first chances. After six minutes captain Philipp Winzig took the lead but halfway through the period the Eagles turned the game around: Fabian Nußbaumer and Olegs Sislannikovs scored a brace within only seven seconds. The hosts were not shocked and just another minute later Jeff Ulmer tied it at two. Despite both sides having some more chances, there were no more goals in the opening 20 minutes. After the restart Lustenau had the better of the play but Kitzbühel found the back of the net with Friedrich Schröder restoring the guest's lead after 23 minutes. Two minutes later Jürgen Tschernutter equalized again and after the halfway point of the game Philip Putnik put the lions 4:3 ahead. Early in the third the hosts killed a two man advantage for Kitzbühel who pressed hard for the equalizer the whole period. In a final push the visitors missed some great chances and because of this the new coaching duo Christian Weber / Mark Nussbaumer earned their first win.
