There was a lot at stake in the derby and after only 90 seconds Sven Grasböck and Philip Putnik had the first fight. After Feldkirch could not score on an early 5 on 3 power play, the visitors took the lead after twelve minutes when Yan Stastny lit the lamp. Just a few minutes later EHC captain Max Wilfan doubled the score but Feldkirch answered promptly. Diethard Winzig and Daniel Fekete equalized with a brace within 25 seconds for the game being tied at two after the opening period. The second was a mere 21 seconds old when Stastny restored Lustenau's lead but Martin Mairitsch (25') found the back of the net for another equalizer. The visitors had the better of the play in the middle frame but it remained a 3:3 score after 40 minutes. Early in the third the hosts took the lead for the first time this evening when Mairitsch beat EHC goalie Timo Waldherr for a second time. Just a few moments later it was Wilfan, who made it 4:4 and it even became better for the guests: Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa's power play goal put Lustenau 5:4 up again in the 47th minute. With Feldkirch could not capitalizing on two more power play, Lustenau earned a hard-fought road win.
