Lustenau wins against Zell am See | Asiago celebrates derby victory

While league leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice won with 4:1 against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, the EHC Lustenau and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären had a tough fight, which Lustenau won with 4:3-OT. Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey kept the upper hand in the derby against S.G. Cortina Hafro with 4:1. The BEMER VEU Feldkirch still has to wait for its first full success this season. The team from Vorarlberg lost against the EC-KAC Future Team with 0:2 in the second duel of the season. The Steel Wings Linz won after shootout against the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. Only nine seconds before the end of the game Luca Ansoldi scored the game winner for the HC Meran/o Pircher against SHC Fassa Falcons. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors (7:2) and the EC Bregenzerwald (6:2) celebrated clear victories.

Lustenau wins hard fight against Zell am See
The EHC Lustenau and the EK Die Zeller Eisbären had a tough fight. In the end, Lustenau won with 4:3 after overtime in front of 581 spectators. In the debut of Remy Giftopoulos on the side of the EHC, the Vorarlberg team fell behind both with 0:1 and 1:2. In the 34th minute of the game Max Wilfan put the hosts in the lead for the first time (3:2). This held until 87 seconds before the end of the game, before Antons Sinegubovs equalized for the "Polar Bears". In the overtime, Philipp Koczera scored the decisive goal in favor of Lustenau after the assist of new signing Giftopoulos. Zell am See remains in strong third position in the standings despite the defeat. Lustenau follows in sixth place in the table.

Jesenice maintains league leader
League leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a 4:1 home victory over the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan on Saturday. It was the second success of the Slovenians within 24 hours. On Friday they kept the upper hand with 2:1-OT against Feldkirch. Slovenia's goals against the Broncos were scored by Aljosa Crnovic (9th), Saso Rajsar (44th /PP2), league top scorer Eric Pance (48th /SH1) and Ziga Urukalo. It was the seventh win in the eighth game of the season for Jesenice, who remain three points ahead of Asiago in the standings. Sterzing is on the seventh place in the table.

EC-KAC Future Team surprises Feldkirch
The EC-KAC Future Team celebrated a surprising 2:0 home victory over the BEMER VEU Feldkirch. It was the second win of the season for the Klagenfurt team against the Vorarlberg team, who are still waiting for their first full success this season. Already in the sixth minute of the game Nikolaus Kraus put the home side in the lead. Tobias Sablattnig increased the score to 2:0 in the 44th minute of the match. For the Future Team it was the second win in a row. Feldkirch lost for the fifth time in a row. For the first time in ten games, the VEU did not score a goal.

Salzburg and Bregenzerwald with clear victories
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the EC Bregenzerwald celebrated clear victories on Saturday. The Young Bulls won with 7:2 at the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The "Wälder" kept the upper hand against league returnees Vienna Capitals Silver with 6:2. Salzburg went behind after only 29 seconds in Val Gardena, but then managed to turn the game in their favor, mainly due to a strong second period. They scored five of their seven goals in the second period. With eleven points, the Young Bulls are eighth in the table. Gherdeina is only in 14th place in the table.

For the EC Bregenzerwald it was the second win of the season. With six points they are currently twelfth in the table. The Vienna Capitals Silver have to wait for their first points, as they will play against the EHC Lustenau on Sunday again. The ECB had the game against VCS under control from the beginning. Already after 28 minutes of play, they led comfortably with 4:0.

Shootout success of the Steel Wings Linz
The Steel Wings Linz defeated the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel with 4:3 after a shootout. The Upper Austrians had a lightning start in front of 521 spectators. Already after eleven seconds they took the 1:0 lead through a goal by Laurin Liesch. They doubled their lead in the 26th minute. However, Kitzbühel was able to equalize in the middle period. In the final period, the home side again took the lead through Iacopo Granza (46.), but 52 seconds before the end of the game, the visitors were able to equalize through Patrik Kittinger. In the shootout, Kevin Farren converted the decisive penalty in favor of the Steel Wings, who celebrated their second win in the fifth game of the season.

Asiago wins derby I Merano/o celebrates last-second victory
Without major problems Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey prevailed in the derby against S.G. Cortina Hafro with 4:1. In the rematch from last season's quarterfinal, Steven Iacobellis put the visitors ahead in the 22nd minute of the game. Newcomer Stefano Giliati increased the lead to 2:0 in the 26th minute of play, although Riccardo Lacedelli was able to reduce the score to 1:2 from Cortina's point of view in the 49th minute of play. However, the guests restored the two-goal advantage only moments later. Jose Magnabosco scored in the power play. The right wing also scored the final goal. In the standings, Asiago remains three points behind leader Jesenice in second place.

In the game SHC Fassa Falcons against the HC Merano/o Pircher the decision was made only nine seconds before the end of the game. Luca Ansoldi scored in the powerplay to make it 3:2 for Merano. The league newcomer was already trailing 0:2 after 32 minutes of play. In the end, they still managed to turn the game around and claim their fourth win of the season. Fassa already conceded its sixth defeat.
