The Steinbach Black Wings Linz are trailing 1:2 in the semi-final series against the KAC and want to equalise in front of their home crowd on Tuesday (7.30 pm LIVE on PULS 24 & JOYN). Assistant coach Mark Szücs emphasises that the fans in the LINZ AG Eisarena always give the home team an extra dose of energy.

Szücs has been part of the Black Wings for 25 years. He played ten seasons for the club, and the former forward even scored the championship-winning goal for the Upper Austrian team's first league title in the 2002/03 season. "I got on the ice and went straight for the goal. I somehow knew that I was going to score a goal. I was expecting the shot and was there for the rebound. It was a great feeling and is a very nice memory," says the 48-year-old.

Szücs ended his active career after the 2009/10 season and took over as assistant coach with the Upper Austrians. He has held this position ever since - in 2021/22 he was also Head Coach on an interim basis.

After winning the opening game of the current semi-final series against the KAC, the team from Linz was recently beaten twice. According to Szücs, the Black Wings will not make any major changes for the fourth clash (7.30 pm LIVE on PULS 24 and JOYN): "Tactically, we don't have to change much, it's about the little things - blocking shots, cleaning up in front of our goal and being better in front of their goalie." The fans in the once again sold-out LINZ AG Eisarena can also be a factor, and hardly anyone can judge that as well as Szücs himself: "It will be really loud again, that will push our players. We want to use this energy from the fans to build up momentum in the game."
