"best-of-7" series: 2:3

After yesterday's 6:1 away win by the Pioneers, the series moves back to Vorarlberg on Wednesday. After scoring just one goal in the first four games with a numerical tie on the ice, the Pioneers scored six times at even strength in the fifth game. In the first two games of the series in the Vorarlberghalle, the KAC narrowly held the upper hand (1:0 and 3:1). The record champions have taken a 3:2 lead in a best-of-seven series eleven times so far and have ultimately won the knockout duel on eight occasions, seven of them in game six. The EC-KAC will be without Tobias Sablattnig on Wednesday and for the rest of the season due to an upper-body injury. Raphael Herburger (muscular problems) will also be missing, while Simeon Schwinger is a doubt. Patrick Spannring is eligible to play for the Pioneers again after his suspension.

"best-of-7" series: 2:3

Fehervar won game five 5:3 on Monday, the first game in the series not to be decided by only one goal difference. The Hungarians can now advance to the semi-finals in Bruneck on Wednesday. There have only been five home wins in the first five games of a best-of-seven series five times since the league was founded - in three cases, the better-seeded team was able to advance to the next round with an away win in the sixth game (see story). HC Pustertal has won its last six home games. Forward David Morley currently leads the playoff scoring charts with six goals.
