Mathieu Carle replaces Mario Altmann in Linz

After Mario Altmann suffered a season ending injury in the end of December, the EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz signed Canadian Mathieu Carle. The 31-year old defender is expected to arrive in Linz on Thursday. He played at Adler Mannheim in the past three seasons.

In the end of December Mario Altmann, who had 29 games for EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz this season, incurred a big knee injury. The defender will miss the rest of the season, after he ruptured his cruciate and side band in practice. Now he is replaced by Mathieu Carle. The Canadian defender appeared more than 300 times in AHL and was part of the Montreal Canadians NHL-roster three times. In Europe he first played for Dinamo Riga in 2012/13 and finished the season in Switzerland showing up for Geneva. After a two-year contract at KHL Medvescak Zagreb, he played in Germany at Adler Mannheim for the past three seasons. He played 134 games for the "eagles" gaining 65 points (8 G | 57 A). In the last month' he was practicing with the Heilbronner Falken in DEL2.
