For Merano, the recently concluded sixth season in the Alps Hockey League was by far the most successful in club history. After finishing the regular season in only tenth place, the Eagles made a sensational run all the way to the final. There, they were defeated by HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the first all-South Tyrolean final in league history.

As runner-up, Meran will once again be one of the teams to beat next season. The South Tyroleans had initially missed the registration deadline for 2026/27, but have now submitted their application. New structures within the board laid the foundation for the decision, meaning that seven Italian teams will continue to compete in the multinational league.

Stefan Kobler, President HC Meran/o Pircher: “Success and disappointment are often very close to each other – we experienced that last season, going from 10th place to league runner-up. After a successful year, we want to continue on our path of growth. We are highly motivated and can now approach our work with great confidence. Since our first year in the Alps Hockey League, we have grown with every challenge – both on and off the ice. With a new structure and fresh motivation, we want to build on our success and continue to play attractive, high-quality hockey.”

Michael Suttnig, Commissioner of the Alps Hockey League: “We are very pleased to keep the current runner-up in our league. Merano is a traditional ice hockey location and an important part of the Alps Hockey League. Therefore, it is a great enrichment that Meran will remain part of the Alps Hockey League.”
