The opening two games of the series were clear wins for Val Gardena (5–1, 6–3). Now Merano are once again challenged in front of their home crowd and are aiming for their first-ever Finals victory. Another defeat would hand Val Gardena four chances to secure the title.

Saturday’s home loss in Game 1 also marked Merano’s first defeat against Val Gardena on home ice in over two years. Prior to that, they had won four consecutive matchups against the “Furie.”

Overall, it is only the second time in the ten-year history of the Alps Hockey League that a Best-of-7 Finals series stands at 2–0 after two games. In 2024, Ritten also led 2–0 against Cortina and went on to sweep the series 4–0.
