Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg have strengthened their squad with forward Michael Raffl. The 36-year-old was most recently captain of Lausanne HC in Switzerland. Prior to that, the brother of Salzburg captain Thomas Raffl was under contract in the NHL for nine years. During this time, he played a total of 629 games for the Philadelphia Flyers, the Washington Capitals and the Dallas Stars. Moreover, HCB Südtirol Alperia announced the contract extension with Dylan Di Perna. This will be the 29-year-old defenseman's sixth season with the “Foxes”.

Michael Raffl became champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League with Villach in 2006. He is now returning to his home country: He played four games for VSV in the 2020/21 season and played his last full season in the domestic league in 2010/11 - also for Villach. The move to Salzburg also marks a special reunion on the ice: brothers Michael and Thomas Raffl are back together in a club for the first time since the 2008/09 season. After years together at EC VSV, their paths later only crossed in the national team - and now they are back in the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Michael Raffl: “I'm looking forward to playing in Salzburg next season. Especially my brother - we've been talking for years about finally playing together again. Everything fits in Salzburg: the dressing room, the team structure, there are enough leading players who know what it takes to win. I don't want to push myself to the fore and fulfill the role I've been given. I want to use my experience to help the team continue its winning culture.”

Dylan Di Perna stays in Bolzano
Dylan Di Perna has been playing for HCB Südtirol Alperia since the 2020/21 season. In 257 games so far, the defenseman has recorded 44 points. The number 90 is therefore currently the “Foxes'” longest-serving active defenseman. A few weeks ago, Di Perna took part in his second world championship with the Italian national team - his first in Division I Group A - and won the silver medal, which meant promotion to the top division.
