After winning the championship title in 2018 with the foxes, Halmo first spent a season in the Liiga with Ilves and then another campaign in the DEL with Iserlohn. In 2020, the 30-year-old, who also played 20 NHL games for the New York Islanders in his career, returned to Bolzano. In total, he has played 174 games in the ICE and Champions Hockey League in the HCB jersey so far, scoring 126 points (52 goals and 74 assist).

"I'm back, but I've never really been away," said Mike Halmo, who, as usual, stayed in South Tyrol for an extended period after the end of the season. "We want to redeem ourselves and I'm already waiting hard for August so I can play in front of the loudest fans in the league again."
