Mike Zalewski first played in British Columbia Hockey League at Vernon Vipers, before he attended Rensselaer Polytechnis Institute, playing NCAA. As a freshman he collected 21 points (12G | 9A) and increased his amount of points in the second season (9G | 17A). After that he moved undrafted to the Vancouver Canucks, showing up six times in NHL and playing predominantly for their farm team Utica Comets in 195 American Hockey League games.

In 2017 he headed overseason, playing for German side Straubing Tigers – together with his brother Steven. After his first season abroad, he was transferred to Kölner Haie, collecting six goals and 15 assists past year.

“Mike is a two-way forward and can be used in the PP and PK. Further, he gained much experience in NHL and AHL. I am very happy, having him on the team“, Vienna’s head coach Dave Cameron said.
