Milan wins intra-league test match | Bolzano advances to final with shutout

The Milano Hockey Club defeated the Vienna Capitals 5–4 on Saturday at the WellCard Trophy in Klagenfurt. HCB Südtirol Alperia advanced to the final at the Südtirol Summer Classic with a 2–0 win over Grenoble. HC TIWAG Innsbruck, meanwhile, lost to Zell am See in a shootout.

In their final game at the WellCard Trophy in Klagenfurt, Milano Hockey Club beat the Vienna Capitals 5–4 in an intra-league test match. Jakob Lilja put the Capitals, who were missing a total of seven regulars, ahead after just 55 seconds. Diego Cuglietta and Lucas Chiodo turned the game around for Milan still in the first period. Early in the second period, Nick Saracino scored on a two-man advantage. Shane Gersich cut the deficit with a short-handed goal, and Giordano Finoro restored the two-goal margin only 19 seconds later. Sam Antonitsch scored the next Capitals goal in the 32nd minute, and shortly before the end of the period Finoro netted his second goal. The Capitals generated numerous good chances late in the game, but only Lilja was able to convert one of them.

Bolzano shuts out Grenoble 2–0, reaches final
HCB Südtirol Alperia defeated Grenoble 2–0 at the Südtirol Summer Classic. Dustin Gazley put the hosts ahead in the fifth minute, and that scoreline held until the third period. After 49 minutes, Zac Leslie made it 2–0, and goaltender Marco Costantini recorded a shutout. On Sunday, Bolzano will face Munich in the final.

Innsbruck loses in shootout
HC TIWAG Innsbruck visited EK Zeller Eisbären. Both teams delivered an open, high-scoring affair, with the Alps Hockey League side ultimately prevailing 6–5 in a penalty shootout. After a 1–1 first period, neither team could pull away in the second, and the break came at 3–3. In the third period, the Tyroleans initially went ahead 5–3, but Zell am See fought back to force overtime. The game went to a shootout, in which the hosts came out on top.
