After the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg prevailed in the pre-playoff duel with Innsbruck, they also celebrated a brilliant start to the quarter-finals with a 2:0 win in Klagenfurt. Steven Owre has scored seven points in the three postseason games so far. The regular-season MVP has already proven several times that his team can count on him in big games.

"He knows how to win important games. Steven has the mental strength and hockey skills to win critical games. I'm convinced that this will prove to be an incredibly valuable resource over the course of the season." Those were the first words of Pioneers head coach Dylan Stanley about his new signing Steven Owre in the summer. The Canadian had won three titles with the Cardiff Devils before moving to Feldkirch and immediately impressed in the win2day ICE Hockey League. On the third matchday, he recorded his first goal and first assist in the 4:1 home win over Linz. Four goals against Bolzano followed at the beginning of October, and by the end of the regular season Owre had 62 points (31G, 31A) in 48 games - and was voted Regular Season MVP by journalists as the leading scorer and goal-scorer.

On 27 February, the 27-year-old was presented with the MVP trophy before the pre-playoff home game against Innsbruck. Owre gave the Pioneers the lead just 39 seconds into the game, scoring two goals and an assist to lead his team into the quarter-finals that evening.

In the series opener against the KAC on Sunday, Owre scored while shorthanded to make it 2-0, his first point against the Klagenfurt side in the fifth duel of the season. The Pioneers' No. 96 scored 2.3 points per game in the three postseason encounters - a significant improvement on his regular-season average. "I know that I can also call up my performance in the big games, which is very important for my self-confidence," Owre revealed in the "nICE to hear you" podcast of the win2day ICE Hockey League. He also firmly believes that "you can never be satisfied. We can always improve and want to write our own history at the traditional ice hockey venue in Feldkirch".

The Vorarlbergers want to add another successful chapter to their story on Tuesday in their second clash with the KAC (7.30pm LIVE on PULS 24). The absence of Daniel Woger due to injury - the veteran will miss the rest of the season with an upper-body injury - will also lead to a change in the Pioneers' top line around Steven Owre.
