VSV gives 3:0 lead out of hand
After the narrow defeat of EC Grand Immo VSV in the opening game of their preseason campaign against the Augsburg Panthers, the Eagles also lost in their second preseason game. For a long time it looked good for the team from Villach, who were already leading 3:0 after 33 minutes at HK Nitra. Felix Maxa and a brace from VSV comebacker Anton-Karlsson made sure of that. Then, however, the Slovakians started to catch up and equalized until the 48th minute. Jamie Fraser put his team in front once again, but the home side fought their way into overtime. Nitra finally scored the winning goal at the end of overtime to make it 5:4.

Caps without a chance at CHL finalist
For the EV spusu Vienna Capitals without their regular goalies - Bernhard Starkbaum and David Kickert are with the national team, Stephan Stéen fell ill at short notice - there was nothing to get against the CHL finalists Mountfield HK. After the 2:4 defeat last Wednesday, the Caps got a 0:8 packing in the second game against the team from Hradec Králové. Junior goalies Lorenz Widhalm (18 years old) and Matthias Lichtenecker (20 years old) each tended the Caps' goal for 30 minutes for the first time in their still young careers. While Vienna newcomer Cliff Pu also made his debut in a Vienna jersey, forward Brody Sutter was rested. Defenseman Dominic Hackl was also with the national team.
