The guests from Vienna got off to the better start in Friday's only game. Alexander Moser scored in the sixth minute of the game to take the lead. But the home side's answer followed promptly. Just over one minute later, Patrick Tomasini equalized. The score was 1:1 at the end of the first period and no further goals were scored in the middle period.

The decision in favor of Meran/o was finally made by Oscar Ahlström in the 47th minute. It was the 17th goal of the season for the Swede. While the South Tyroleans got back to winning ways right away in Max Ansoldi's comeback as Head Coach and won for the first time after five defeats in a row before, the Silver Caps lost for the fifth time out of the past six games. In the Qualification Round B table, Meran/o is five points behind a Pre-Playoff spot.
