Narrow standings after Sunday round

While the two top-teams had to take defeats in the 28th round of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, three teams of the bottom half of the standings celebrated wins. Fehérvár AV19 captured the second win this season at leader Salzburg, the Moser Medical Graz99ers ended the winning streak of HC Orli Znojmo and the EC Panaceo VSV booked a win against the Dornbirn Bulldogs to narrow the gap to the top-5. In the the top game of the round, the Liwest Black Wings succeeded with the turnaround at Klagenfurt after trailing 0:3.

Second full win for Fehérvár AV 19 in Salzburg
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 did it again. For the second time this season the Hungarians captured three points in Salzburg – again after a strong finish. Fehérvár narrowed the gap to the top-5 to five points. Leader Salzburg had to take the sevenths defeat in their 13th home game. After an opening period with no goals the hosts captured the lead in the second. From that time on, the Hungarians increased the pressure and managed to end the second period with the score of 2:2. In the final period Fehérvár even shifted one gear up and scored three more goals for the result of 5:2. Andrew Yogan scored twice in powerplay this evening.

99ers end winning streak of Znojmo
The Moser Medical Graz99ers ended the winning streak of the HC Orli Znojmo with a 4:3 overtime win. Znojmo is the fourth team this season who got stopped after six games in a row. It was already the third win of the 99ers against Znojmo this season, but this one with a drop of bitterness as Dwight King broke his thigh bone and got a surgery in the same night. Znojmo captured the quick lead but the 99ers stroke back and captured the 2:1 lead in the first period. Graz had the lead for the most of the time. But 50 seconds before the end Aaron Berisha managed to tie the game. Joakim Hillding found the decision for Graz in overtime.



Caps celebrate shutout win in Bolzano
The spusu Vienna Capitals celebrated a 3:0 shutout win against the HCB Südtirol Alperia. It was already the fourth consecutive win of Vienna against Bolzano including the past season. The foxes need to open their place in the top-5. After an opening period with no goals Kyle Baun opened the scoring after 22 seconds in the second. Winged by the goal the Caps increased pressure and managed to double the lead in the same period. Vienna controlled the game and celebrated a 3:0 win.

Black Wings succeed with turnaround in Klagenfurt
The Liwest Black Wings Linz celebrated a 5:4 win against the KAC and closed the gap to the second placed team. In the first minutes it seemed to be a clear matter for the home team as they created a 3:0 lead within the first 12 minutes, before the Black Wings proofed their efficiency. The first period ended with a score of 4:3 for the KAC – this was the opening period with the most goals this season. The spectators saw a different game in the second period, as there were no goals scored. In the third period the KAC, who seemed to have the full control over the game in the first two periods, lost their intensity. Die Black Wings capitalized on that and continued converted their chances. Linz celebrated a 5:4 success – Dragan Umicevic scored twice this evening.

VSV beendet Niederlagenserie
The EC Panaceo VSV celebrated a 3:1 success over the Dornbirn Bulldogs and ended their losing of three games. Villach narrowed the gap to the fifths place to four points. For the Bulldogs it was fourth consecutive defeat. After an opening period with no goals, the VSV captured the lead. The Bulldogs tied the game a few minutes later, but the away team had the right answer. In the final period Jamie Fraser created the result of 3:1 with an empty netter.
