Neumarkt and Asiago celebrate wins

Asiago Hockey celebrated a 4:2 road success against the Sterzing Broncos and confirmed a top three position. The HC Neumarkt booked a 4:3 home-success over EHC Lustenau and captured the 15th place.

The Neumarkt was presented to this game without the presence of four players: the injured Alex Sullmann and Hannes Oberrauch while David Galassiti and Alex Gasser were with Under 20 Italian National Team. In the first half the home team played well and in attack. The opponents defended themselves well. Despite the 16 shots of the Neumarkt, both teams went to the first break without goal. During the second period the game changed decisively. The first powerplay of the second period allowed to score the first goal for Wild Geese. Good action was made by Tobias Brighenti and Kamil Brebanec: the puck came to a free Jakub Muzik who put the stick to score (22.). Then the action of the Neumarkt continued but no other goals arrived. Indeed, the Lustenau used two mistake in a row in the middle of the match to draw and take the lead. First Philipp Koczera scored the draw and then two minutes later Yan Stastny took Lustenau ahead. The reaction of the Neumarkt arrived in powerplay with a shot by Michael Sullmann shortly after the blue line with a wrist shot at medium height for the tie (2:2). In the third time the guests must gave up Tobias Brighenti due to injury. The history of the game was repeated. The Austrian team took the lead with Dominik Oberscheider after two minutes of game and after a mistake in the neutral zone of home team. The Neumarkt reacted as they continued to play with energy. Muzik on the counterattack in shorhanted made the draw after 52 minutes. Right in the very last action  when it seemed that overtime was reality, the puck arrived in the slot where Joseph Harcharik shooted. The opposing goalkeeper rejected and on the rebound again Harcharik scored for the game winning goal only a few tenths from the end of the third time (59.59). The Wild Geese won 4: 3 as they earned the 15th position in the standings.

The home team came to this match without the presence of Giffen Nyren, Daniel Erlacher and Danny Deanesi. The game was immediately well play by the two teams with a major supremacy of the Asiago as they created more chances. The offensive boost of visitors produced the first goal of the evening. Marco Rosa won an face-off and then he passed the puck to Anthony Bardaro who, with a diagonal wrist shot, overcame Gianluca Vallini. Asiago could score one more goal but Giulio Scandella failed a penalty shot (18.). But Vipiteno did not give up as they found the draw just three seconds from the end of period with Zdnek Bahensky who scored after a nice diagonal pass by Ben Duffy. During the second period the game was even more fought. The Sterzing played a double powerplay but the home team produced few actions. Then the Broncos went close to the lead but Luca Felicetti hit the post. Shortly after Asiago scored the new advantage in powerplay with Giulio Scandella who was found free in the front of the opponent's net. But once again there was the reaction of the Broncos who tie with Felix Brunner who collected a short rebound of Cloutier after a shot by Tobias Kofler. This was the first seasonal goal scored by Brunner. The episode that allowed the Asiago to start well the last period and to approach the victory comes just after 13 seconds from the beginning of the third time. Luca Casetti scored in powerplay with just 17 seconds to manage with the extra man for a penalty that started in the second period. The advantage remained all the time up to 16 seconds from the end with the empty net goal of the safety of Federico Benetti. The Asiago won 4: 2 as they confirmed the third place with the same points of Jesenice. The Sterzing found the fourth defeat in the last five games.
